Oliver North On US Troops

This is the part where I normally try to say something witty, but I think I'll just let Oliver talk this time:

I know this is a little old, but I hadn't see it before.

Sweet Olympus Ad

This Olympus ad is really impressive. By "ad" I mean 4 minute video paying tribute to their Pen model. Oh, and full disclosure: I prefer Nikon products.

HT: This site is in French so you may want to run it through Babel Fish.

Google vs Bing, the parody ad

Landline TV has created a great parody of the Google Super Bowl ad pitting Google vs Bing. It will probably be funnier if you have actually seen the Google ad so I embedded it first.

Primer

Over at Techland they are going through some of the most important Sci-Fi movies from the first century of cinema. Today they posted about Primer, a movie I completely loved and yet had forgotten about.

Here is the plot (from Netflix):
Quite by accident, an engineer builds a machine that can transport the user back in time. But his discovery comes with an ominous caveat: At the heart of this puzzling device, nothing is as it seems on the surface. David Sullivan and Shane Carruth co-star in this Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize winner, a film whose inventive narrative blends a patchwork story line with overlapping streams of dialogue that help build tension and suspense.

Primer is the best time travel movie ever. Oh, wait - Back to the Future trilogy. Hmm, let's say it this way: it is the best movie about real, possible time travel ever. While I am fuzzy on some of the details, I remember thinking about the movie and forcing it on friends long after I initially watched it. The movie's budget was a paltry $7000. $7000! Avatar probably spent that much the first .00003 seconds of production.

I highly recommend checking it out and will be renting it and going through it again for myself. Hopefully I can convince my wife to sit through it with me. Here is the trailer:
