Left 4 Dead

I have been playing a fair bit of the zombie-killing game known as Left 4 Dead and highly recommend it. I love killing zombies only slightly more than killing nazis. Anyway, one of the characters seems to hate just about everything. Someone took that and made this video which I think Francis would have appreciated it...but hated. I found this to be extremely funny, but if you haven't actually played the game then maybe it isn't.

I am having internet hooked up at my house again Thursday morning so I will be making a (limited) return to Xbox Live. I won't be on nearly as much as I used to (4+ hours a day) and will be playing much fewer games. However, send me a friend request if you are so inclined.

This is the most epic song/video of all time. The camera can barely capture the raw energy that IS Mark, thus causing him to appear to stand around and pose. The poor girl in the video is so amazed and enthralled by Mark that she can do nothing but walk back and forth over the same ten yards of beach for no real reason, her mind clouded with images of giant glasses and power stances. This song of "heartbreak and loneliness" is an anthem for all of us that have walked through weird forests then ended up on the moon, very much alone.

I recommend you check out his other songs and maybe pick up a cd or a tshirt. I know I am!

Geek or Nerd? Know the Difference

Even though I am probably the most awesome person you have ever met, this does not actually translate into "cooolness" very well. Anyone that has known me for any amount of time has heard me reply to the charge of 'nerd' with, "I'm not a nerd; I am not good at math and science. I'm a geek." I have said this countless times over the years and most of my friends finish the statement with me they have heard it so many times. I am in no way ashamed of my geek attributes and actually enjoy and propagate the label.

Today on Twitter I followed a link over to what I found to be pretty spot-on contrast of the two terms. I recommend you read it so you better know how to deal with the nerds/geeks in your life.

How to Tell the Difference Between Nerds and Geeks

Really, it's a very good description of each. It turns out I do have some nerd tendencies (despite not being good at it, I really enjoy science and history), though my geek gene is full-on dominant.

Attention Time Travelers!

If you are anything like me, it is not uncommon to find yourself in some past age with the flux capacitor in your time machine on the fritz. It is hard enough to work of those things without all the peasants yelling that you are some sort of witch and hurling fruit and vegetables at you. I mean, honestly, who throws produce?

I remember this one time .........


Well, that's a story for another post. Anyway, the point is that I have often wondered what I would do if I ended being stranded in the past. I wonder how I would survive, of course, but more importantly I wonder how I would rise to dominate and control the indigenous people. I mean, what good is being trapped in the past if you are just another peasant or low-end soldier? Please!

Fortunately, there is now a great history cheat sheet that I can hang in my time machine in case of emergency. I post it here so that my fellow time travelers might purchase their own copy. Keep in mind, however, that if we both become trapped in the same time era I must destroy you. Just a heads up.

Finally, a new mewithoutyou cd! Releasing May 19, 2009 is "it’s all crazy! it’s all false! it’s all a dream! it’s alright". I love me some mewithoutyou and am very much looking forward to this. They are a band of Christians (rather than a Christian band) but not the type that vague it up to the point you can't even tell.

A Dream Denied

As awesome as this video is it actually made me quite sad. I was forced to admit to myself that my dream of being a member of a touring band as their keytar player will most likely never happen. For years I dreamed and dreamed, but alas, all for naught! Maybe one day this can be me....

Best. Worst. Movie.

Ok, who here has not seen Trolls 2 (PG-13. some language, no nudity)? If you haven't - and I assume that is most of you - then I highly recommend that you find yourself a copy (or borrow mine). Trolls 2 is truly the best worst movie ever; everything about the movie is just bad. It was supposed to be a horror film but I can't imagine it scaring anyone. Fortunately, bad movies usually tend to be great movies - for the wrong reason. There is a huge cult following for Trolls 2 and I watch it several times a year myself. It is one of those movies you casually quote or mention to a friend and when they say they haven't heard of it you get to freak out and make them watch it, thus creating a new fan.

One of the actors from the movie is all grown up now (the 'film' is 18 years old now) and has created a documentary about the movie and it's lasting appeal. The movie is called Best. Worst. Movie. and debuted this year. I cannot wait to see it! Below is a trailer and a clip of just one of the many, many bad scenes. Caution/; You are going to see some of the greatest acting all time in the second clip, lol.

Don't Waste Your Life Tour

I know that historically Christian Rap has gotten a bad 'rap' (*snicker*), but the genre has really gotten a lot better in the last decade. The best, imho, are those of the Reformed theological stream as their lyrics tend to be more than posturing and are actually God-exalting and Word-exhorting. There is a group of rappers that call themselves the 116 clique (after Romans 1:16) and it has been announced that the core members will be going on tour this year. The tour is called "Don't Waste Your Life" after the John Piper campaign of the same name. I'm personally looking forward to it and figured I would share a vid for each person that will be on the tour. for those of you that haven't heard of any of these guys.

Imperial March

I was sitting around my house last night and was looking up random things on YouTube when my mind (inevitable, some would argue) turned to Star Wars. Before long I was looking at a list of different versions on the Imperial Death March. I found a few bizarre videos in particular that stood out from the crowd.
